Strangely (or not!) the history of the wine is confidentially connected to the ancestral ritual parties and by extension in the history of the theater!

Indeed the Greek and Roman mythologies retained Dionysus (or Bacchus, it depends) and his corthège, Thiase.

His worship is celebrated under forms of bacchanalia or ritual orgies!

Dionysos it is the bunch of grapes matured by the fire of the sky (enlightens him killing Sémélé) fed by the water (the valley of Nysa).

It is the wine with opposite effects: joy, consolation, for the one who drinks it with wisdom (the Greek wisdom!) or source of madness, destruction for the intemperate! It is also the vine stock we prune in winter (the aggression of the Titans) until reduce it to this tragic stub which nevertheless is going to re-turn green ( the resurrection).
